"After several years going to France this was the best campsite we have stayed at so far. The water area was fab as were the shows at night."

INTRODUCING LA RIVE

La Rive offers one of the largest indoor and outdoor swimming centres in the Aquitaine area and is a splash-a-minute family paradise not too far from the evocative vineyards of Bordeaux.

Families will find life on the park to be lively, with site-run Kids Clubs for 4-12 year olds. Naturally, one of the main draws will be the swimming complex, which features a lagoon, lazy river, Jacuzzi, kids pool (including a water spray park and fun characters including monkeys, parrots, and snakes), plus a 50 m² rectangular pool, classically shaped.

Around the holiday park, families will find the nearest town is the delightful town of Biscarosse, which is only 7km away and is home to a stunning sandy beach. However, families will also find further afield Arcachon, Dax, and the port city of Bordeaux. The latter is ideal for a day trip to one of France's most famous cities.

It's a great park if you have young children, as there are endless activities available. The park is kept clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and helpful. Well worth a visit.

Great facilities and a clean, well organised site. Excellent pool and lake and on site water sports. Pitches were quite close together. On
site restaurant was expensive and poor value for money.
Generally though would highly recommend.

Southampton
The evening entertainment was hit and miss. On three nights it was fantastic, but the other four it was pretty dire.

The swimming pool has great facilities, with plenty of slides and pools for the little ones but a ridiculous swimming trunk policy for men that was more of a priority for life guards to enforce than it was to make sure people were safe. One guard who should have been watching the wave pool spent three minutes explaining to someone their trunks were not allowed rather than keeping an eye on the safety of guests in the wave pool. Couldn't he have waited until the wave pool cycle had finished. I was advised the rule isn't about the tightness of the trunks but the material they are made of, they must be 100% lycra. The irony is the approved ones sold in the shop weren't pure lycra, and the ones they said I was allowed to wear contained significantly less lycra than the ones they said I couldn't wear. They also didn't care what women wore. Very odd.

The lake is great, especially if you have little ones, because you can walk out for at least a hundred metres with the depth varrying between ankle and barely waist deep. So very safe for the kids.

Considering the rating of the resort it's surprising how unpleasant the main toilets are, as in no toilet seats, no toilet roll on many days, and no soap. Or course the lack of soap means people go in the swimming pool with unclean hands.

Overall we enjoyed our time at the resort, but not as much as previous resorts. We described it as good not great.

Thank you for your feedback, we do use it to improve our service.
It's such a shame that you weren't entirely happy with the entertainment and some of the facilities, we will pass this information on to the relevant department. Many campsites have regulations regarding swimwear and we include this information on the website page and on each brochure page, where applicable.
Thanks again, Deborah

Entertainment all in french. My kids chose not to partake because of this. Security should keep ontop of noisy families wandering back to their cabins at 1am/2am keeping everyone else awake.

Only drawbacks are there's only really one restaurant and the mobile homes are quite close together. But overall it's a great park and highly recommended.

The swimming pool complex is far too small in terms of the sunbed area. Unless you get there first thing it was impossible yo get a sunbed. The communsal toilet area etc around the pool was also inadequate and dirty. It was wet a d disgusting everywhere with people from the pool using it. Needs cleaning constantly.

Enjoyable park. Suggestions for improvement:
- entertainment at night is French speaking only, perhaps also some English is also valuable.
- the camping bracelets are quite sharp on the edges and caused some small injuries (paper like cuts)

Although I understand French my family doesn't and therefore entertainment was mostly advertised in French many holidaymakers couldn't understand. The bar opening hours were poor. The waiters weren't very helpful either. Restaurant food was not great and overpriced.

We love this park it is well run and maintained and the team around the pool ensure people have fun but can't mess about. We do not use the evening entertainment and the restaurants as they are expensive compared to cooking e.g. pizza in your caravan! The overall holiday costs is expensive for a mobile home holiday but the standard of the park is excellent

We have done La Rive for the past three years but have outgrown it now.

The positives are;

It is generally a well thought through site especially the indoor kiddies pool which is big, well equipped and protected from the sun
The site is kept clean and the cleaning team are continually present across the day
The site is secure with a good security presence
Great variety of homes available
Al Fresco Reps onsite staff are very helpful
They are continually investing back into the site and there is something new every year
Easy access to the lake means a great alternative to the pool areas

The cons are;

There is not enough space and loungers around the pool for a site of this size
The bar prices are extraordinarily high eliminating this as a affordable social meeting place to use frequently
There is little available to keep older kids/teenagers entertained especially in the the evenings and will get bored quickly
Children and toddlers should be allowed to enjoy themselves but there should be cycling only routes that keep them away away from the more busy routes for cars across the site. When driving you need eyes in the back of your head and you often hear of visitors with scratched cars!
